  • How to upload a podcast on Apple Podcasts (iTunes)?

    Podcastics • Community

Once your podcast is ready and your first episodes are recorded, it is time to share them with your listeners. To do so, platforms like Apple Podcasts (iTunes), Spotify, Deezer or Amazon Music are crucial. Podcastics will guide you step by step and help you broadcast your podcast on these platforms. Here is a tutorial for the most important one…

As a listener, it takes two finger slides ☝️ on your phone to listen to your favorite podcasts. But as a podcaster, it takes a bit more effort to make your show accessible to people.

No, podcasts do not appear as if by magic 🧙‍♀️ on Apple, Spotify, Deezer or Amazon Music. All these platforms use an RSS feed. To feed this RSS feed with your audio file, either you use your IT skills… or you let a host do it for you. By the way, Podcastics can create your RSS feed for free. Your eternal gratitude is enough.

Let’s assume you already have an RSS feed and, to make it simple, that your podcast host is Podcastics. Good news! We have created assistants who will guide you through every step towards the distribution of your podcast through these platforms.

For some of them, it is fast and easy, for some others, it takes a bit more time, as on Apple Podcasts, for instance, which is the most popular podcast platform. The Apple Podcasts Connect bridge has been updated recently, and so has the Podcastics assistant. Your experience will be as smooth and comfortable as possible.

Distributing your podcast on Apple Podcast with Podcastics

Do you have a properly formatted RSS feed, at least one recorded episode (potentially a teaser 🎞️) and a square picture of minimum 1400*1400 pixels and maximum 3000*3000 pixels (Podcastics will crop it automatically if needed)?

Perfect! Now go to the Distribution section on Podcastics and click here:

A series of questions will guide you, especially the question below:

Why is it important? Well, the ID is as essential as your RSS feed. Next step? You have it: create your ID.

Good news: it does not take long; you only have to fill in a few basic fields, just like when you create a Facebook account.

Once you are done, open iTunes on your computer and activate your ID.

No need to add any more screenshot here but note that Podcastics will keep guiding you precisely through every step.

Relax, though: it is far from over! Next step: Podcasts Connect:

This time, it is real. The goal is to introduce your show to Apple. So now, it’s time to shoot 🤠 the precious RSS feed we talked about in the introduction (if you don’t remember it, don’t worry, Podcastics will offer to copy and paste it without leaving your page).

You are getting closer to your goal. If everything has gone well, Podcasts Connect tells you your podcast is being processed. You just have to give your name and phone number ☎️ (these data are only collected by Apple, they won’t appear anywhere), and answer a few questions regarding the absence of third-party content in your podcast and how you want it to be available.

After saving the form one last time, Podcasts Connect tells you your podcast is being scanned 👨‍⚕️. Be patient, it may take one hour to two days before the process is completed 🚦. So, refresh your Podcasts Connect page occasionally.

Once your podcast information appears properly, you can switch to the next step, i.e., registering the frequency of updates and sending it to Apple for a final check.

Congrats, your podcast will appear on the Apple search engine in a few minutes! 🥳

You have one last thing to do: copy your link from Apple Podcasts and paste it in the window opened by Podcastics. Once this step is over, an Apple button will automatically appear on your podcast’s Podcastics page, as well as on all your audio players, making your listeners’ experience way easier.

Now, breathe! Your show is available on Apple Podcasts! Do you understand why the Podcastics team thought it was essential to guide you 🧑‍🤝‍🧑 step by step through this process?

If you want to, you can use our assistants to distribute your podcast through all other platforms. But don’t worry, on some of them, such as Spotify, Deezer or Amazon Music, it only takes two clicks!
