How do I transfer my podcast from Anchor to Podcastics? Don't worry: it's a quick and easy process. We'll explain it all to you!
LEAVING ANCHOR IS QUICK AND EASY
You've probably experienced it: if the platform has some undeniable qualities, Anchor quickly shows its limits once you start to feel comfortable and want to go further in your podcasting experience: the features are not numerous, the interface is very basic, the statistics are limited and ads for Anchor even appear on the website of your podcast.
Beyond its reputed customer service, Podcastics stands out from other hosts by the diversity and depth of its features, and especially its statistics. The level of detail and customization is unparalleled. On a daily basis, many other features are very helpful: episode series, QR Codes, magic links 🧙... The interface is ultra user-friendly and the mobile version particularly well done. The user experience is childishly simple, and the interface is 100% mobile friendly.
Podcastics can import your current Anchor RSS feed, and retrieve all your podcast and episode data. So you won't have to do anything: Podcastics will recover your Sounder audio files, your titles, descriptions, covers... This full import takes place in just a few clicks; you will therefore find your complete podcast in Podcastics 👍
Additionally, moving to Podcastics will not impact your podcast:
- It will continue to be accessible without interruption on listening platforms (Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, etc.).
- You will retain your followers on these platforms, as well as any comments and ratings posted there.
- You will also keep your statistics on these platforms, such as Podcasts Connect, Spotify for Podcasters, Google Podcasts Manager...
However, please note that you will no longer have access to the statistics provided by Anchor. We therefore advise you to save them (for example with screenshots or in data files). Podcastics will not be able to import them back into your new interface, as each host has different technical standards.
So, now, how do we migrate from Anchor to a new host?
1. Pick a subscription pack : 1st month free 🎁
Your adventure starts here on our “Create a podcast” page. Pick the Pro or Max plan; the one that best suits your needs and expectations.
Note: do not choose the Premium plan, as it won't recover your audio files from Anchor (this plan doesn't include files hosting).
For starters, you can safely choose the Pro plan, which is only $8/month. It includes all Podcastics features, as a comprehensive website, detailed statistics and gorgeous audio players, along with unlimited storage space for your audio files.
For all plans : 1 month of free trial and no card required.
2. Create an account
You have picked your favourite subscription pack. If not done yet, you must create a Podcastics account. To do so, you need to give us several details, such as your username, your email address, and your password. Well, it is the same for any internet website. Easy, right?
3. Import your podcast from Anchor
Now let’s get down to business! Once you have your pack and your account, you are left with two options: either you Import an existing podcast or you Create a new podcast.
Of course, as you already have an Anchor podcast, you have to choose the Import existing podcast option.
You can then import your podcast:
- Either from your Anchor RSS feed address,
- Either directly from Apple Podcasts if your podcast is there. Simply enter the first letters of your podcast title, and click on its name in the drop-down list.
Step 4
There's actually no step 4! That's it!
Podcastics will import all your podcast and episodes data, including their audio files, artworks, titles, descriptions… 😎
TELL THE WORLD YOU'VE LEFT ANCHOR
You will then access your Podcastics interface, even though your episodes are still being imported.
Once this is done, take care to check all your podcast data (descriptions, episodes, etc.). Podcastics indeed offers infinitely more options than Anchor, and you can enhance your descriptions with rich text, images, videos, emojis… Do not hesitate to look around the Podcastics interface: this will allow you to familiarize yourself with the platform, but also to check that all your podcast and episodes settings.
Don't be afraid to make changes! For the moment, Podcastics is not yet officially your new host: none of the modifications that you make will be transmitted to your listeners. You can test anything you want without any risk!
When you feel that your podcast is ready for the big leap, start with redirecting your Anchor RSS feed to your Podcastics RSS feed:
- Log in to the Anchor website and click on the Settings tab at the top right, then on "Update Settings".
- Go to the bottom of the page to the "Leaving Anchor" section, then "Redirect your podcast".
- Paste your new Podcastics RSS feed into the appropriate field.
Note: You will find the address of your Podcastics RSS feed in the "Distribute" tab of the left menu.
- Click on the "Redirect" button and confirm the maneuver, and that's it!
Then, go to the "Distribute" tab of your Podcastics interface. We'll now inform the listening platforms that you have modified your RSS feed (so that they update correctly). For this, Podcastics offers you detailed wizards, which will guide you step by step:
- For each distribution platform (Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, Deezer…), click on the “Distribute to…” button. Wizards will guide you step by step; it is very easy, you just have to follow each step carefully.
- Depending on the listening platforms (Apple, Spotify…), the update time will vary, it generally takes less than a hour.
- Once this is done: congratulations! 🎉🍾🌈🚀 You will have completed your migration to Podcastics. Going forward, any changes you make to Podcastics will be reflected on listening platforms.
We told you that changing hosts was quick and easy! Welcome aboard!
