How do I grow my podcast audience? Many of you are naturally asking yourselves this question. That's why we've compiled a few ideas for you to consider.
What tips can you give me to grow my audience?
In order to increase your listenership on distribution platforms (Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, etc.), it's important to do some communication work 📣 around your podcast, to get it discovered by as many listeners as possible. For this, in addition to the classic word-of-mouth approach, social networks are the point of passage. In this regard, we recommend reading our article dedicated to social networks. You'll find tips on how to take advantage of them to expand your audience.
As for the broadcasting platforms themselves, you can play on the leverage of highlights, which are often the result of manual work on their part. We've identified three key qualities that can help you maximize your chances of being found:
- Consistency: your podcast should come out at a regular pace, have been around for several weeks or months, and receive comments and positive ratings ⭐ as frequently as possible. It's very rare to see a brand-new podcast being promoted, and for good reason: it hasn't yet proved itself.
- Originality of content: if your podcast belongs to a category with little competition and is aimed at a very specific 🎯 target audience, it can be promoted in its category or sub-category.
- Impeccable form: the more care you take with your presentation, episode titles, descriptions, subtitles and cover art, the more likely you are to get noticed.
Dozens of other tips await you in our dedicated article. They cover the topics mentioned above, as well as others such as SEO optimization and getting involved in the podcasting community.
My friends tell me I bore them with my podcast. Do you have any advice?
Have you thought about talking to them about it less often? In any case, don't take the piss 🪰 and remember that even if your friends don't have a podcast, they can be just as annoying.
How do you move up the Apple Podcasts rankings?
Did you know that only three criteria determine a podcast's position in the Apple rankings? We explain it all in a dedicated article, which also includes a tip or two on how to make the most of it.
How do I get featured on Apple Podcasts?
Apple's ways are impenetrable, but we can tell you that a request to be featured must be made via the following form. Please fill in all the fields as fully as possible. Feel free to read the additional information in the tooltip next to each field.
In the “Why should we feature you?” section, give a short but powerful explanation 🥊 of why your podcast deserves their full attention. If it's possible for you to do so, don't hesitate to send them your “Hero artwork” as well. Finally, only send an audio file (“Audio sample”) if your podcast does not yet contain a complete episode.
While it's unlikely that you'll get a formal response from Apple, you may be lucky enough to see your podcast selected in one of the featured categories 🤞
