You can either post your episodes now or schedule them for a later date 📅 or time ⏲️ on Podcastics. You can also adjust the settings as you like.
As you may have noticed while posting your podcast on Podcastics, you can set it as public, unlisted, or private. But did you know that this has an impact on the episode web page, its distribution to platforms, and its accessibility on audio players? Let’s review and compare these three types of posting.
Public posts: the usual drill
You need a podcast host, which means that you want to host, post, and distribute your podcast to the main platforms. Public posts are the final step of the process, and there are two types of public posts on Podcastics:
- You can make your episodes immediately available once your audio files are uploaded and the descriptions completed;
- Or you can schedule them for a later date or time. They will then become public.
Once your episodes become public, they are accessible to everyone through all channels – their web pages, podcasting platforms, and audio players. By “everyone,” we mean not only your staff, family, and friends but also anyone on the planet 🌍 with an internet connection. If you think about it, that's a lot of people! 😵
Unlisted episodes: for VIPs or premieres
It is your soon-to-be-favorite type of post. Similar to public episodes, you can schedule the publication of your unlisted episodes, though it is slightly different:
- Only people with the link to the episode web pages can play them;
- The episodes will not be distributed to podcast platforms (Apple, Spotify, etc.);
- They will be distributed to audio players only if you tick the ‘include unlisted episodes’ box first.
In other words, unlisted episodes are those you do not want to make public, or at least, not now. They are perfect for internal podcasts aimed at a specific audience (your employees 👩💼👨💼, your schoolmates 👩🎓👨🎓, etc.).
It is also useful if you want to pre-release your episodes for your co-hosts, staff members, or Patreon subscribers. Although they do not appear on the platforms initially, they do once you turn them ‘public’. It is the Podcastics touch! You can also schedule the switch to public mode for whenever you want without having to go back to the interface once it is done.
Private episodes: the last warm-up lap
You are afraid something is wrong 😱 with your episode settings? You want to check everything one last time in real condition? Don’t risk it! Make it private!
- Only you – the podcast owner – and the admins and managers can access the episode webpage;
- It will not be distributed to podcast platforms;
- It will not be distributed to audio players either.
Do not forget to come back later to publish the episode for good; otherwise, you are doing all this for nothing!
