Elements Transcript

"One of  the many popular ideas in Western culture was the notion that the four elements of water, air, fire, and earth were the basis for everything. Though scientists argue that there are actually 118 foundational elements, represented by the periodic table, these four elements hold great symbolism and meaning in folklore, helping to structure the entirety of fairy beliefs and stories. Even today, the combination feels especially magical, so I felt it was only fit to categorize the different fairies and creatures described in this podcast into four general groups each represented by a unit: water fae, air fae, earth fae and fire fae."
