The homily you are about to listen to is on the theme St. Alphonsus: Patron Saint of Moral Theologians. It will be preached by Fr. Joaquim Parron, C.Ss.R., professor of moral theology and former Provincial of the Campo Grande Province of Brasil. In our times, we are faced with difficult moral dilemmas - often in the Church, we find people on two extremes of either doctrinal rigidity and legalism on one hand or moral laxism on the other. Listen in to find out how, St. Alphonsus struck an amazing balance in his moral theology between pastoral concern for the dignity of the person with respect for moral truth.

About the Speaker:

Fr. Joaquim Parron, C.Ss.R., of the Province of Campo Grande Brazil guides us to reflect on the impact that St. Alphonsus had on the Church of his time and how he became the Patron Saint of Moral Theologians. Fr. Parron has been a Redemptorist for 40 years. He was a missionary on the Bolivian border and later Provincial of the Campo Grande Unit. He studied moral theology in the United States and is now a professor of that discipline at Claretian University, Brazil. This homily originally premiered during the Global Novena to St. Alphonsus on 27 July 2021.
