172 - Interview with Charles Giancarlo, CEO, Pure Storage
In parallel of the recent Flash Memory Summit in Santa Clara early August, I decided to visit the new Pure Storage HQ in Santa Clara, CA, and record an exclusive interview with Charles Giancarlo, CEO of the company. It was a very good moment, super frank and direct and we both enjoyed the recording. Together, we covered its role within the company, his goals, objectives and achievements, technology choices made made Pure several years ago like the famous DirectFlash Module aka DFM, Purity as the global OS for all products, obviously FlashArray and FlashBlade, services of course with EverGreen but also the cloud operating model and managed services plus software developments and new services based on Compuverde or Portworx acquisitions for Container and Kubernetes presence, financial results, market climate and business drivers, the famous "no more HDD to be sold in 2028", AI of course with AIRI and META collaboration and some future directions such as the 300TB DFM, the ubiquity and commoditization of the storage... A very dense and super episode once again I really enjoyed to record. Happy listening. Thank you Charlie.
