Show notes

In today’s episode, we continue in our theme of Spring Cleaning of the Soul. We’re tackling a challenge that so many of us face in our everyday lives—distraction. And if you've been around here for any length of time, you probably know this subject is one I'm passionate about and well-versed on. After all, I wrote two books about it! Whether it’s endless to-do lists, constant notifications, or racing thoughts, distraction can quickly clutter our hearts and minds, making it hard to focus on what truly matters. When you feel distracted, you aren't living an abundant life, so this episode can help you declutter your heart and refocus on what God has for you.

We live in a world of distraction, so naturally we will be enticed by the distractions of this world. Distractions aren't just aren't annoyances, but they are actually keeping us from living the abundant life God has for us. Living distracted affects everything we do and how we live, including our relationships, our peace, and our ability to hear God's voice clearly. They are causing us to miss priceless moments happening right in front of us.

When you feel distracted, it's an indication something in life needs to change.

We look at the two kinds of distractions--internal and external--and what we can do to recognize them and overcome them. And from Chapter 5 of my book, Right Now Matters, I share the five most common distractions we experience on a daily basis.

This age isn't the only one that has experienced distractions. Even in Bible times, distractions were present to God's people, too. We look at a perfect example found in the book of Luke.

Are you feeling a bit distracted today? We take it step by step in this episode as we begin the decluttering of our hearts to eliminate distractions from our lives.

Take heart, friend. It’s never too late to reset when you feel distracted. With God’s help, you can clear away the clutter and refocus your heart on what really matters.
