Show notes

This is our final week journeying through this 12-week series this summer as we learn how to embrace the abundant life Jesus came to give us. We've explored eleven elements of abundant living. Which has been your favorite so far? In today's episode we dive into our final element, number twelve: Courageous Obedience. It's an important one, and we can't live an abundant life without it.

This one emotion is one we all face—fear. Back in 2023, my word for that year was UNCOMFORTABLE. So, I committed to doing something that made me uncomfortable every day and I documented what I did. By doing this daily exercise, I realized how fear can contribute to our uncomfortableness. And as I walked that year out, doing what was uncomfortable, fear became less bothersome in my life.

But after 2023 ended, my word changed and I stopped doing the uncomfortable things. Guess what slyly returned? Yep, fear. It was so subtle how it appeared in my everyday activities. In fact, I almost almost didn’t launch my Abundant Life Mentoring last spring because fear had me wondering, "Will anyone want me to be their mentor? Who am I to think I'm to do this?" I almost let that fear keep me from something God was calling me to. Numerous women continue to flourish through Abundant Life Mentoring. What if fear had won?

What if fear wins in your life?

Fear is the strongest when God's blessing is the biggest. Fear will try to do everything in its power to keep me from the thing that through it, God will bless me and others the most. No wonder the fear was so strong with launching my Abundant Life Mentoring!

Living an abundant life doesn’t mean fear disappears. It means we don’t let fear keep us from obeying God. Abundance grows when we step out in courageous obedience and do it afraid. Because when we do it afraid, we allow God to lead us, not the fear.

Courageous obedience equips us to do it afraid. God is with you, friend. You have nothing to fear. I'm cheering you on. Thanks for being here. God bless you.
