Show notes

In this first episode of the new series The Stuff We Keep Inside, Julie opens an honest conversation about something we all carry but rarely talk about: the thoughts we think but do not say. These are the quiet, repetitive thoughts that don’t show up in our schedules or conversations—but slowly shape our joy, peace, and how we see God.

Julie explores why we tend to keep these thoughts hidden. Fear of judgment, of sounding ungrateful, of admitting we’re not okay. Yet Scripture reminds us that God already knows our thoughts—and He is not intimidated by our honesty. Drawing from Psalm 139, Julie reminds us that God knows us completely and meets us with compassion, not condemnation.

In a vulnerable moment, Julie shares one of her own recurring thoughts: I’m running out of time. What happens when that thought is left unspoken is pressure, urgency, and striving. What happens when it’s brought into God’s presence is truth, steadiness, and peace. Scripture like Psalm 31:15—“My times are in Your hands”—reframes fear with trust.

Julie walks listeners through practical steps for handling unspoken thoughts: bringing them honestly to God, comparing them with truth, replacing lies with Scripture, and speaking truth out loud. She also reminds us that a thought can feel real without being true—and that renewal begins in the mind.

This episode invites listeners to take one small step this week. To name one hidden thought, pray over it, find a Scripture to counter it, and speak that truth daily.
