Challenge Yo Self podcast presents We The Community: A Conversation with Yvonne for the finale of our Winning Women: Living Life on Purpose series.  Yvonne Kinston (@natural2theroots on Instagram), a local government official, was elected to her first term of City Council for District 9 in the City of Fayetteville, North Carolina, which is adjacent to one of the largest military posts in the country, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, home of the 82nd Airborne.  Ashley and Joy were honored to sit down and converse with her.

She’s been recognized for her activism and her love for her community.  The Governor of North Carolina appointed her as a commissioner to the NC Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service.  She received various awards and honors for her work and commitment to community involvement, labor rights and public service. A graduate of Fayetteville State University, a Historically Black University, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration.  She’s a mom of three. She’s a grandmom.  She’s committed to educating and serving the people of Fayetteville and beyond, as she paves the way for a better life for those coming up after her.  In the climate that we are currently living, this conversation is poignant and purposeful.  May you draw strength, inspiration, and motivation to get involved in your community, too.

This is the finale conversation of Challenge Yo Self podcast’s Winning Women series.  For the month of May 2020, Challenge Yo Self has intentionally focused on Women in Leadership with a series entitled “Winning Women: Living Life on Purpose”.  It’s time to shift the mindset of what it means to be a leader by sharing stories, shifting expectations, and discussing what it means to win, past and present.  By bringing forward women of many different disciplines -  corporate, faith, coaching, business, public service, entrepreneurship, and psychotherapy -  the podcast has highlighted the fact that women can win and that women win in every area

Continue to be motivated by our conversations with dynamic women as we close out May 2020.
