54. B-Game?? Focus - Perform the Best Possible in that Moment (Sport Psych Show), PotW #11

Building some adaptability in the face of adversity during a difficult match against a tough team. Getting well-adjusted

Season 2, episode 54
12 min / Published

What can we learn from bad performances? 🤢 In moments where one is frustrated or dismissive of what he/she is producing on the field, the competition continues. So focus and efforts must be redirected appropriately.

You already know, as an athlete, or as a person in any other work or activity, that you cannot be always at your best. In your A-game, right? How much easier would that be?! If this was possible and easy to attain, EWS and Sport Psychologists wouldn’t exist.

So, on this PotW, with ideas retrieved from the glorious “Sport Psych Show” Podcast, where the Host Psychologist Dan Abrahams, in an Interview with Dr. Duncan Simpson , we share a collaborative and hopeful approach that coaches can have to their athletes (and athletes to themselves!) in order for them to be well-adjusted and so that their athleticism and Mental Game are promoted.

What about you? In tough / challenging moments, what do you usually do? Can you point out a negative thought that keeps going inside your head and affects your performance? Moreover, can you tell a behavior you go for in these kinds of moments? Feel free to share with us, or bring up the conversation among your team, as that can be a crucial step to Efficiently-Work-Sports 😉
