AN I-Have-The-Power Life
Today we take a look at the Apostle Peter.
Key Verses: Mark 14:67-68, Acts 1:8 and Acts 2:1-14
Introduction:
Peter was amazingly effective in sharing Jesus, but only after he also denied the Lord publicly. In Mark 14 we find Peter following Jesus from a distance, warming himself before a fire and being intimidated by a young maid. We must follow Jesus closely to avoid life drift. Whenever a gap opens up between us and God we'll revert to warm ourselves (self-centered) at fires started by people around us. We'll lack the courage to stand tall in the face of adversity and be intimidated by insignificant persons and paralyzed by fear. We deny our principles.
Then Peter waited on the promise from the Lord. Acts 1:8 "You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you and you will be My witnesses." Peter rose in Acts 2 to deliver a clear, bold and fearless message to the people of Jerusalem, the same people who shouted for Jesus to be crucified. Here Peter was not warming himself in front of man's flames, he was ablaze with the fire of the Holy Spirit burning within him. That day he shared the good news of Christ and 3,000 gave their hearts to the Lord.
We can draw on the power of the Holy Spirit. We can be ablaze with Heaven's fire also. We can share in the joy of the Holy Spirit, be confident in the Lord, draw wisdom from God and all the things that Peter experienced.
Let us live with a I-Have-The-Power attitude. God empowers us for purpose, to share the good news of Christ to the world.
