Approved and Entrusted
Key Verse: 1 Thes. 2:4
1. Approved by God
We all seek approval; from friends, family and loved-ones, on social media and even in the mirror. We ask questions like, “Am I good enough?” or “Am I valued?”
The original word for approved in our text is “dokimazo” and means “to test, to see whether a thing is genuine or not,” and “to recognize as genuine after examination.”
God does not approve us by our appearance, knowledge, or wealth. He detests fairness, falsehood and pretense. His approval is based more on what Jesus did than our conduct. He approves us through the blood of Jesus. We are naked for success because of the applied blood of Christ in our lives.
We are approved because of association, by invitation, and through sanctification.
2. Entrusted with the gospel
The original word for entrusted means, “to have faith in.” God believes in you to get His job done. It also means “to commit unto.” He gives the most valuable message (the gospel) with greatest power (the Holy Spirit) to you. What are you doing with it?
We are entrusted with the gospel to carry out His will.
Like pipes bringing water to parched places and people.
3. Putting it in practice
Approval is not about likes, thumbs up and feeling good about ourselves.
It legitimizes our value before God. How He sees us and not how we see ourselves.
We are worthy vessels to carry His valuable treasure.
It is all about access - Give God access to your heart. He’ll strengthen your weakness, cover your sin, raise your value, lift you up and give the world access to the Lord through sharing the gospel, good news.
Tell them about Jesus while introducing Him to them
