As You Care for Your Family, God Cares for You
Today's Battle Drill Devotional: As You Care for Your Family, God Cares for You
Read Proverbs 31:10-31. When a mother looks out for the needs of her children, there is always a cost. We didn’t have a lot of money when I was growing up. I know my Mum sacrificed many holidays so that she could afford to send her children to life-changing events like music schools and junior camps.
Looking after the needs of others always involves some sacrifice. It might require you to give up your time. You might need to give money. You might need to expend energy. It might require you to give up some privacy.
When we sacrifice our own needs for the sake of others, we are practising wisdom. We are also following the example of Jesus. He sacrificed everything for us. As he went to the cross for us, he was focused on our needs, not his own.
That’s all in God’s plan: he promises to meet our needs as we assume responsibility for meeting other people’s needs. Let’s be prepared to sacrifice for others, trusting in God that he will give us what we need.
THINK IT OVER
Think about the following:
- Why do you think kindness always costs you something?
