Tania Bonno: Social worker in the Marquesa Islands and her role with families.

Tania has been working as a social worker for the past 23 years. She is based in Hiva Oa and every two months travels to the outer islands of the southern Marquesas. She stays a few days there to provide information, conduct mediation sessions with families or undertake youth prevention activities. Over time, she has built up trust. Her nickname is “Tania Social”.

“Our children are victims of everything that happens in the family. Parents hide many things and don’t dare talk about them, but children suffer anyway. That’s why they have behavioural problems later on.”
