Decide in Advance to Say Yes to Whatever God Says
Today's Battle Drill Devotional: Decide in Advance to Say Yes to Whatever God Says
Read Luke 8:4-15. When God speaks to you, what’s your response? “Mmm. I’m not sure that’s a good idea. Let me think about it”? “Let me compare your request with my other options and get back to you”? Or are you willing – in advance – to simply say yes to whatever God asks of you?
Jesus describes seeds that fell on fertile soil, which grew and produced a huge crop. They represent honest, good-hearted people who hear what God has to say to them and are already willing to say yes. They hear God’s voice. They cling to it for dear life. Then they keep doing what God says until they produce a huge harvest.
As we end this week together, ask yourself if you are willing to find a quiet place to hear from God. Ask yourself if you are willing to hear what he says and to act on it. Ask whether hearing from God is the top priority in your life or if other things are crowding it out. Ask yourself if you are too preoccupied to hear God’s voice. If any of this is true, then join with me in praying for an open mind, for time to listen to God, and the courage to say yes to God whatever he asks of us.
THINK IT OVER
- Are you tired of not hearing from God? If so, what’s one thing you can change today that will open you up to the possibility of hearing from him?
