That’s bad advice! Our consciences often misguide us. Why? Well, first of all, we are in a war zone. Every moment there is a battle going on between the spiritual forces of God and the forces of Satan. Satan hates Christians and he will do all he can to make life as difficult for us as possible. He can trick you into giving in to the wrong cravings. A craving to gratify your physical desires. A craving to bow to the god of materialism and accumulate more and more things. A craving to find your identity in your achievements and possessions.
And the problem that all of these things often feel so good that our consciences lie to us – “if it feels this good, then it can’t be bad, can it?”
How can you avoid being misled this way? Your small group of Christian friends can help you see where your conscience may be misguiding you. As you study God’s word together, you all begin to see that God’s word will never let you down. It is always true, and it always leads you on the right path. Will you let it guide you today in the choices you must make?
