1. One Good Referral Begets Another 🤝 👨‍🏫

This graphic novel’s protagonist is a boy whose parents send him on a magical journey (think “Pilgrim’s Progress” 🚶‍♂️crossed with “Legend of Zelda”) to learn four key lessons about stewarding money. 💸 After each lesson in a given kingdom, his parting gift from his instructor is a referral to his next mystical teacher another faraway land.

Likewise, in real life, a good expert 🎓 will provide you referrals to other experts in related fields 👩‍⚕️ 👨‍💼 👩‍🏭 👷‍♂️ (rather than try to be all things to all people). A good referral is worth is weight in gold, & a wise person him/herself with good-hearted experts.

2. Raising "Free-Range" Children 🏃‍♂️ 🧗‍♂️ 🚸

Our young adventurer sets out with no companions other than a scroll in his hand, a pack on his back, a dog at his side 🐶 , & a hug from his family.

Rather than be helicopter 🚁 parents, his folks send him on the quest when he’s ready to exercise some independence, trusting he’ll display the virtues & skills 🥋 they’ve taught him. They know who the teachers are & what they’re asking of him (his father did the same quest at a similar age), & their son knows he can always come home.  🏡

So many kids become developmentally stunted 🌱from being pampered 🎁&/or neglected by their caregivers 🤕– be it financially, emotionally, physically, or intellectually.

The balancing act ⚖of parenting kids to live in their personal “stretch zone” 😅 – where consequences are both real but not extreme – is hard, but ultimately, a treasure in itself.

3. Generational Vs. Situational Wealth 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦>🎰

One might say our hero’s greatest blessing is the love & legacy of his family. Family values, relationships, & identity are real treasures 💞🥇 -- money 💴 should be just a tool 🛠 in service to them. A person who has the former will soon recover the latter (but not vice-versa!).

It’s well known that many lottery winners 🤑will blow through their winnings rather quickly, 🏎️🗑 and eventually return to their original lifestyle 🛵within a few years. Meanwhile, a mature, intelligent, and resourceful person 👨‍🎓can lose it all & get it back in just a few years (especially with mostly non-financial support from family/friends).
