Read Nehemiah 2:1-10. Whilst you’re waiting, God is working. There may be a delay, but at some point, God will release you to take the next step. You’d better be ready!

Nehemiah prayed about the state of Jerusalem and its walls for over four months. Whilst he was doing that, God was working. He was working in the heart and mind of the king. When he released Nehemiah to act, he went to the king and asked if he might be allowed to go and rebuild Jerusalem and its walls. He also asked for letters to provide for safe passage and materials for use in the rebuilding. And the king granted all three requests!

If you’re facing a delay, don’t despair that nothing is happening. God is working. You may not yet see it, but it’s happening. At just the right time, God will answer your prayer and bring his will to fruition. Let it be, let go and let God. And then be ready to act!

THINK IT OVER

Think about the following:

  • Why do think God sometimes make us wait before we can act?
