God’s Love Runs Deeper Than Your Problem
Read Deuteronomy 33:1-29. When I was a child, I used to love to swim in the sea. But I remember one occasion when a large wave pulled me under, and I really thought I was going to drown!
I just about got my breath back, when another large wave hit and pulled me under again. I struggled to reach the surface and struggled for air and manage to get to the shore.
Have you ever felt like you’re about to be pulled under? Sometimes, we think we’re about to sink. Maybe we’re about to go broke. Maybe our emotions have hit rock bottom. Maybe a relationship is breaking up and we feel like we’re sinking. Maybe a health problem makes us want to give up.
It’s then we need to remember that God’s love is deeper than our problem. Just when you think you’re about to hit the bottom, at the end of your rope, there you find God is underneath you. His everlasting arms are holding you up, keeping your head above water.
One of the things they teach lifeguards is to try and get the person they are saving from drowning to stop struggling. Continue to struggle and the concern is that both the victim and the lifeguard could drown. Maybe it’s time for you to stop struggling and drop into the deep and everlasting arms of God’s love. Let him catch you. Let him support you. He can keep your head above water.
THINK IT OVER
Think about the following:
• What pain or hurt do you need to hand over to God today? How could you sink into his everlasting arms of love?
