Born and raised in Rwanda, after arriving in the Netherlands, Gunifort Uwambaga found solace in books and narrative. His passion for literature grew so much that he eventually chose to quit his very demanding career in finance to take over an independent bookstore and publishing house Mendo. From the comfort of a private meeting room in the back of his new “home” – the Hotel de l’Europe – we discuss community, his plans for the future and his favorite printed editions.
