Make a Daily Choice to Walk with God

Season 2022, episode 35

Read Genesis 45:1-15. It is often said that hurt people hurt people. When someone has caused us pain and left us deeply wounded, often our first response is to want to hurt them in return. Joseph had a chance to respond to his brothers in anger. He could have destroyed them. He could have had them killed, or thrown them into prison, where he had spent much of the prime of his life. Instead, he chose to join God in blessing them. Does that seem impossible to you?

Joseph made a choice to trust God. His whole life is characterised by moment-by-moment choices to follow God. He had made the decision that God was good, and he could be trusted. So, when he faced a critical decision – that moment when he came face-to-face with the brothers who had sold him into slavery, when he had a split second to decide what to do – he was ready to make the right choice. We are faced with the same choice. We must make daily decisions on our own walk with God. Do we see God as good? Do we trust him? Or do we want to take control? Our answers are critical if we are going to be the blessing God longs us to be to those around us. What choice will you make?
