S1E6 WORLDBUILDING: A teen conversation with a professional storyteller
Jaime & Simon go over the deadly sins of worldbuilding
Every fictional work requires some form of worldbuilding. I'd also tell any teen who would listen, that in my opinion, worldbuilding is THE #1 most important core skill to develop if you want to craft a story that will grip a readers attention and keep it.
When creating Wanted Hero and Chronicles of a Hero, I was focused on creating a world so vest and detailed that I could spend the rest of my professional career building it and sharing it with readers. Which is amazing, because when I chat with teens in public, most want to talk worldbuilding and what my personal system is for crafting my fictional world.
Today Simon and I delve into the subject of worldbuilding, which is a vast topic, and one we will go over in detail over time--sharing my own techniques--and also share some materials from my best-selling book 'Advanced Worldbuilding'...which was encouraged by David Farland.
Have a listen and make sure to send Simon and I questions, if you have any. Questions can be about anything at all, especially aspects of worldbuilding you'd like us to cover.
