Shake It off.
Key Verse: Psalm 18:38 -42
Point 1: You Have A Clear Path to Victory
God is continually working on us; His goal is to enable us to be successful, victorious, successful, and influential.
He "arms" us with strength: our ammo here is “means, resources, wealth, virtue, valor, efficiency, ability” (according to the original Hebrew word for strength.) v.3
He makes our feet like hinds' feet - to walk right, to march in victory over the enemy's power. v.33
He makes our hand to make war, bending a bow of bronze v.34
He shields us with salvation v.35
He holds us up, makes us great with gentleness, and enlarges our paths v.35-36
Point 2: Our Enemies
Who are our enemies? According to the Hebrew word, “an adversary “ - an opposing force - opposes your relationship with God, your spiritual walk, and your success.
An enemy is “a hater” - someone who hates you (opposite of how Jesus feels about you), hates God’s plans for you, hates your life direction, God’s principles you follow, etc. The devil hates you to get at Jesus.
Enemies are more than people—everything that creates a struggle in your life—unholy emotions, temptations, distractions, carnality, time-stealers, peer pressure, fads, societal and secular mandates that go against Christian values, evil, both blatant and subtle, etc.
Point 3: Dealing With These Enemies
Biblical victory is all about positioning. Enemies to turn their backs (no more attention) v.40 or give me their necks. (stiff-necked - break their will or intentions) OR Under my feet - I rise above.
Overtake them v.37 “to reach, overtake, have enough, take hold upon.”
Destroy them v.37 “to end, to finish, consume, to accomplish.”
Wound them v.38 “shatter, pierce through, violently plunge” - apply sword of the Spirit.
Beat them v.42 “to rub away, pulverize, beat fine.”
- under me, dust, dirt, v.38, 39, 42 - Jesus said: “shake the dust off your feet”
