Star of Bethlehem Episode 6 (12/3/2021)

Show notes

Episode 6: The Star of Bethlehem!

And behold, the star that they had seen when it rose went before them until it came to rest over the place where the child was. Matthew Chapter 2, verse 9.

May I have your attention please! Look up! That’s me, the Star of David. God chose me to rise over all of Palestine before resting above a tiny cave in Bethlehem. I have no idea why God chose ME out of all of the stars in heaven to shine a bright light here, but I just know he has a brilliant plan. I will guide all those who seek the Christ child, who is named Jesus, savior of the world. Wise men from countries far far away will know where to find Jesus when they follow my light.

When you set up your Nativity scene in your house this year, and your Christmas tree, remember to add a star on top and remember the special job that God gave me!

And during these days of Advent don’t forget that God wants you to guide people to Jesus too! Your loving words and actions can help point people to Jesus, the way I did. You can tell people about him and help lead people to him.

Lord Jesus, make us shine with your love so that, like the Christmas star, we can help lead other people to you. In our dark world, may we glow with your love and joy so that all people can find you and experience your love. Amen.

Prayer Starter for Parents

"God wants you to guide people to Jesus too! Your loving words and actions can help point people to Jesus." The Lord really wants each of us to help point to and lead other people to him! One of the greatest people who did this was John the Baptist, the cousin of Jesus who prepared his way. As a prayer starter today with your kids, pray through these verses that tell us what happened when John pointed out Jesus and led people to Jim, just like the Star of Bethlehem:

"The next day John was there again with two of his followers. He saw Jesus walking by and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God!" The two followers heard John say this. So they followed Jesus. Jesus turned and saw them following him. He asked, “What do you want?" They said, “Rabbi, where are you staying?” (“Rabbi” means “Teacher.”) Jesus answered, “Come with me and you will see.” So the two men went with Jesus. They saw the place where Jesus was staying and stayed there with him that day. It was then about four o’clock. These two men followed Jesus after they heard about him from John. One of the men was Andrew. He was Simon Peter’s brother. The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother, Simon. He said to Simon, “We have found the Messiah.” (“Messiah” means “Christ.”) Then Andrew took Simon to Jesus. Jesus looked at Simon and said, “You are Simon son of John. You will be called Cephas.” (“Cephas” means “Peter.”)"
John 1:35-42

Lord Jesus, help us to be like the Star of Bethlehem. Let us shine brightly with loving actions, words, and thoughts, that helps lead other people to you. Help us to be ready to share you with others, to tell others about your great love, forgiveness, and strength. Amen!
