Starting a Podcast is Good for Business
The Essentials- A prequel: Why I am starting a podcast
Starting a Podcast to Market Your Business
I started a podcast.
I know what you are thinking… Thank you Capitan Obvious!
But I wanted to tell you WHY I started a podcast. If you want to skip My Why click here to get to the reasons you may want to start a podcast.
If you have been following me, you know that I am on a path of self-discovery. I began by creating my own content. Then others began to ask for my help with issues that they were having with their business. That is how I fell into the world of business consulting.
During a group, call a colleague called me a “Professional Problem Solver” and the name just stuck. I absolutely love my job and the fact that I get to help my clients. I love the research and the creativity that is involved in finding unique solutions. Where do I find my answers? Typically, I turn to the experts.
Most problems have a solution if you look hard enough. I often watch videos or listen to podcasts. I learn so much by listening to experts in a variety of fields talk about what they know best! Then it occurred to me. I have always said that I wish that I could be a professional student “when I grow up.” Why not start a podcast where I can interview the experts and find the answers for my clients, my listeners and myself!
That is the reason I started a podcast. My zest for knowledge was my driving factor but there are a lot of reasons why people should and do start podcasts.
Why podcasting?
Recent research has found that 37% of Americans listen to podcasts at least once a month, and that figure is changing rapidly. Podcast episodes are easy for people to search, access, and listen to.
Listeners can find most podcasts for free on different platforms including Google Podcasts, Apple Podcasts and Spotify. With the podcast industry evolving, these platforms make it easier and easier for listeners to access your podcasts.
As a business, podcasts offer an easy barrier to entry, free marketing cost, and access to a wide audience for free.
