1 hr 22 min / Published

Hello once again everyone I’m your host Ray Shasho and welcome to another edition of Interviewing the Legends.

Steve Luongo has produced, performed, and recorded with several well-known artists including Leslie West of Mountain, Cream bassist Jack Bruce, Eddie Money, Alan Parsons, Todd Rundgren, Heart's Ann Wilson, Ritchie Blackmore, Mark Farner, Joe Walsh, Billy Squier. The most prolific and significant of all his work was with John Entwistle, best known as the iconic bass guitarist for The Who. The two musicians became the best of friends. Luongo produced, performed, co-wrote, and toured with The John Entwistle Band until Entwistle's death in 2002. Their last live performance together was in Japan during the A Walk Down Abbey Road tour. Later that year he was invited by The Who and Entwistle's family to write and read the eulogy at Entwistle's memorial service in London.

In 2007, Luongo served as producer and composer for a studio band he created with AC/DC bassist Cliff Williams, in which Williams recruited frontman Brian Johnson as the vocalist. The project later known as Forklift gave birth to 7 tracks. "Chain Gang on the Road" was the only track offered by the quartet and was briefly available for a free download during a run of US tour dates in 2007.

In 2012 Luongo began a musical partnership with Cheap Trick vocalist Robin Zander by forming The Robin Zander Band. Zander was among the first to be asked to appear in Luongo's documentary film An Ox's Tale - The John Entwistle Story about the late John Entwistle. (https://youtu.be/PwZrLRBkAfk)

Steve has been creating works of art for as long as he has been playing music. His critically acclaimed colorful and flowing abstract visual art has been displayed in galleries and is in collections worldwide. Steve’s art has been described by critics as rhythmic and musical.

As a fashion designer Steve Luongo based his collection on his original abstract art. His passion for rhythm and love of color are infused in this deeply personal fashion collection. Each garment is a unique artistic representation of Steve’s art and like his prints each piece is numbered making it a true limited-edition collectible.

Please welcome drummer, singer, songwriter, record producer, artist, and Fashion designer… STEVE LUONGO to Interviewing the Legends …

John Entwistle: An Ox Tale

The John Entwistle Story

In 1964, The Who became one of the key figures of the British Invasion, taking the American music scene by storm. While Roger Daltrey, Pete Townsend and Keith Moon took the spotlight with their on-stage antics, John Entwistle, dubbed "The Quiet One," stood in the shadows... poised to become the biggest bass player in rock and roll. With his arena-rock days behind him, Entwistle continued down his own path, finding great musical freedom with the John Entwistle Band. In 2002, after years of touring his solo project, Entwistle couldn't resist the lure of bringing back one of the greatest bands in rock and roll history. Tragically, plans for The Who's North American Reunion Tour were cut short when on the eve of the first show John was found dead in his Las Vegas hotel room. "The Ox," as Entwistle was affectionately known, left behind many fans and several unfinished projects. With his passing, the world lost a musical legend, dubbed Guitar Magazine's "Bassist of the Millennium." Narrated by Peter Frampton, John Entwistle: An Ox's Tale covers the life of John Entwistle, from his first public performance at the age of 14 to his feelings about The Who's most recent reunion. This film contains the last footage and interviews ever shot with Entwistle, offering the one chance for fans to discover the real life behind the man who far exceeded his greatest aspirations.
