In this first Sunday of Lent, we go with Jesus into the wilderness.
The season of Lent began this past week on Ash Wednesday. Today is the first Sunday in Lent. Lent is a time to prepare for Easter, the death and resurrection of Jesus. In worship we begin a new series, Seeing Jesus. These are the stories of characters who encountered the face of God in the flesh. They saw Jesus. Now will the world see Jesus in us, the body of Christ in the world today? In our first scripture text, we go out into the wilderness with Jesus to face the devil.
