The Big Dilemma of MTB Social Media: Which skills make you a "real" mountain biker? #012

Play
Episode 12
26 min / Published

Personal insights on how I consume social media, how to set realistic expectations for learning mountain bike skills and why "popular" skills may be misleading us. I also address which MTB skills every mountain biker should be able to perform, explain how we learn movements and give you food for thought to find out: "What kind of mountain biker are you?", "What is "real" mountain biking?"

If you would like to know how to start practicing basics, how and WHY to practice braking, how your brain works and why it will sense FEAR on trails, whether mountain biking needs to be dangerous, learn about some common intermediate riding errors, why you may have trouble looking ahead on the trail, then this episode is for you!

Once again, you’ve brought encouragement and specific direction to those of us who are more “senior“ students. I appreciate how the perspective you bring to coaching so beautifully intertwines with another of my favorite coaches, Aaron Lutze from “Super Rider” (who was also featured on the Mahalo my dude reaction to negative comments)… I would love to hear, or see, a collaboration between the two of you to combine your perspective on being the “Pilot, rather than the Passenger” and Aaron’s tagline of “Practice makes Progress“. I continue to share yours and his YouTube tutorials and Instagram posts with many of my family and friends to assist them in their life journey, as well as their bike journey.  “Life-Bike Balance” is a wonderful best practice for living a fulfilled journey on earth!!

Wishing you a lovely holiday season Roxy, from your biggest fan from Oregon in the over 60yo category!

Dan.
