Hélène Geiger has been Deputy Public Prosecutor for the Court of Papeete for five years. She often works on cases of violence within families and is currently striving to create emergency housing solutions for women who are victims of domestic abuse on the outer islands.

“I often say that domestic abuse and the process of leaving a situation of repeated domestic violence are like climbing a flight of stairs.”

“There are many possible steps but when you take the steps and reach the top, there’s a door to freedom. The first step involves speaking up and pressing charges. And one day, you reach the door at the top of the stairs to escape domestic abuse.”
