The Mountain of Victory.
Key Verse: Ex. 17:9-13
We all go through a wilderness season, a time between our sinful slavery (Egypt) and possession of the destined Promised Land God has for us. During this wilderness season, we have to watch for the attacks of Amalek.
Amalek means: "warlike." In Num. 24:20, they are called the first of the nations. Amalek is the first enemy Israel faced after the Egyptians. They were attacked from behind, and Amalek targeted all the stragglers in the camp. (Deut. 25:18). Moses activated a plan to bring the Israelites victory over this enemy.
The Four Elements for Victory:
1. The Moses Element (Your Spiritual Authority Element)
Moses was to take his rod (symbol of authority), climb the hill or mountain to gain elevation, and lift his hand (with the rod) over the battlefield in the valley. We all have received spiritual authority, but we have to walk in that authority. Luke 10:19: "Jesus said, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall in any way harm you."
2. The Aaron Element (Your Worship Element)
Aaron was the priest of God. He was from the Levite tribe. Levite means to be attached, or to twine, to unite." 2 Peter 2:9 declares that we are "a royal priesthood." Followers of Christ are worshippers of God. Strong worship will keep our authority strong.
3. The Hur Element (Your Sanctification Element)
Hur means "white linen," reminding me of purity, holiness, and unstained, unsoiled character. We must be washed with the blood of Jesus and in the word of God because being sanctified will also strengthen our spiritual authority.
4. The Joshua Element (Your Jesus connection)
Joshua is the Hebrew form of Jesus, which means "Jahwe saves." Jesus will fight our battles for us as long as we stand in His authority, worship Almighty God, and keep our lives pure. Get it?
