I am thrilled to introduce my good friend, Bryan Halferty, a pastor and author who leads Anchor Church, a community of imperfect Jesus-followers in Tacoma, Washington. In this refreshingly candid episode, we talk about his church planting and writing journey, our universal human longing for connection, and the ways that vulnerability allows us to experience the connection with God and others we are made for. Unabashedly honest about his own imperfection, Bryan invites us all to live and lead with greater transparency, experiencing the transformation that's only possible when we show up as our authentic selves.

His book is a memoir that explores how life’s most challenging moments—failure, fear, and uncertainty—can become unexpected pathways to grace and transformation. With poetic insight and raw honesty, Bryan invites readers to embrace the risks of faith, where beauty is found not in perfection, but in the messy, redemptive work of community and trust in God. Rooted in Bryan's experiences planting a church and facing personal and marital crises, Terrible Beauty is a meditation on grace, resilience, and the power of vulnerability in shaping an authentic faith.
