Today's #BattleDrill: Read 1 John 2:15-17. Entrepreneur, author and motivational speaker Jim Rohn once famously stated, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” #salvationarmy #basingstoke #devotional
One of the ways Satan most uses to try and get you to adopt worldly values rather than God’s values is by peer pressure. Sometimes we are guilty of thinking this only applies to children and teenagers, but it continues into adulthood too. Anyone ever been caught “keeping up with the Joneses?” That’s peer pressure!
If you want to choose God’s values and make wise decisions, then choose your friends carefully. If you really do become like the people you spend time with, if you really are the average of the five people you spend most time with, then make a careful choice of a small group of Christian friends to hang out with.
When you all get together in Jesus’ presence to enjoy friendship, to talk through life, to study God’s word and to pray together, then the really good news is you will all become more like Jesus, and you’ll adhere to Kingdom values. Do you and your friends reflect Jesus Christ?
THINK IT OVER
Think about the following:
Which of your friends has the most influence on you? How can you all better reflect Jesus?
